We are proud to announce that two Youth Venturers, Pranav Shikarpur and Siddharth Viswanath, recently won the Second Grand Award in the Earth and Environment category at the prestigious Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. They attended the fair representing Team India. The pair also received a Special Award from the US Agency for International Development.
The Bengaluru based innovators created a portable, floating device, named FLoBoT that collects real-time data on the water quality and disseminates the data through SMS, and the IoT website and app. They developed their device in response to Bengaluru’s water crisis due to high levels of pollution in major water bodies. The city’s lake conservationists lack access to accurate data regarding the pollution levels, an issue that the device helps to solve. Their cost-effective device is also only a tenth of the price of existing commercial water testers.
